(text-colour:green)[Hello] and (text-colour:green)[welcome] to today's (text-colour:magenta)[playtest] of the mechanical build I've created in the hopes that you all get to experience some of what I've been working on this semester. This mechanical build is based on a visual mockup of the play system the programmer on this project created, and whilst it does not utilize the same specific content for its narrative, you will still be able to play through something mechanicaly similar.

(set: $taleCount to 1)You are a weary traveler on a quest for fame and fortune. Along the way, you have come across a dungeon swarming with dangerous creatures, although they are no match for your prowess. You reach the end, and as you are about to leave, you spot something out of the corner of your eye, a (text-colour:yellow)[golden scroll]. You pick it up and lay your eyes upon its contents. It reads as follows:
"Hello (text-colour:green)[journeyman], what an unexpected surprise. You assumedly have cleared the dungeon that awaits all who enter, and as such, you are worthy of this (text-colour:yellow)[artifact]. What you are reading will only serve to help you further your quest for success in whatever way that may be. There is a (text-colour:yellow)[secret] hidden within these pages, one which you must unlock by reading through eight different tales detailed below. Upon completion of a tale, you will be one step closer to unlocking the hidden secret. Good luck..."

[[* Hidden Secret->Secret]]]Along your journey, you will need people in your circle who you can trust. When you find your back against a wall or if you are struggling with a quest or a task, these individuals will come in handy. If you're feeling down, discouraged, or maybe even downright cursed by an evil spirit that preys upon you, feel free to confide in these individuals and allow them to help you, as they have your best interest at heart.
For the sake of this tale, let's say you were to meet a talking cat named Amanojaku whilst on your travels, and he has volunteered to help you. You've met him before, and you even have been in quest parties with him. You know he is knowledgeable, reliable, and wise as he's well traveled.
(text-colour:green)[[[* Trust Amanojaku, let him help you with your quest...->1-1]]]
(text-colour:yellow)[[[* You're a lone wolf, you don't need allies...->1-2]]]
(text-colour:red)[[[* Be spiteful and punt him...->1-3]]]During your journey, you may find yourself getting fatigued or stressed. Restful activities can help with that. You may be a journeyman who prefers to sleep, or maybe write poetry and songs. Others may enjoy to write literature or draw, it is all up to your individual preferences.
For the sake of this tale, let's say you have just cleared a perilous ravine, and you are showing signs of fatigue. Your HP and MP are looking low, and you can feel it starting to affect your morale. You see a clearing where you can set up camp and rest for a while. During your time there what do you decide to do?
(text-colour:green)[[[* Practice what the mystics call "Yoga"...->2-1]]]
(text-colour:yellow)[[[* Choose to sleep...->2-2]]]
(text-colour:red)[[[* Punt any stray cats that you may find...->2-3]]]Along your journey, you may find yourself feeling fatigued or maybe your morale is feeling low. Morale is often times fueled by your inner thoughts. Discouraging thoughts tend to decrease morale, and as a result you may start to perform worse in certain situations. Trying to stay positive will help keep your morale high, leading you to make better decisions not just for your party, but for yourself as well.
For the sake of this tale, let's say you just defeated Shuma Gorath, eater of dimensions. During your battle, he implanted some very negative ideas and thoughts into your head with his psychic powers. Since then, those ideas and thoughts have been swirling around in your head endlessly. What do you do?
(text-colour:green)[[[* Try to relax and meditate...->3-1]]]
(text-colour:yellow)[[[* Go to a shaman to seek help...->3-2]]]
(text-colour:red)[[[* Feed into the negative thoughts and punt cats...->3-3]]]The life of a journeyman is unique and varies per individual. A certain type of journeyman could enjoy socializing and being part of a group, while others might prefer to be wander alone. Some may be more sensitive and intellectual, while others may be tough as nails and more headstrong. Some journeymen enjoy traveling the realms, and some may enjoy lounging around in their camps. Regardless, each individual journeyman has their own unique qualities that make them one of a kind. What kind of journeyman are you?
(text-colour:green)[[[* A brave adventurous journeyman who is well traveled...->4-1]]]
(text-colour:yellow)[[[* A journeyman who loves the art of combat and will jump at any chance to fight...->4-2]]]
(text-colour:red)[[[* A journeyman who studies the dark arts of punting cats...->4-3]]]As a journeyman, it is essential that you properly prepare for the tasks ahead as you set forth on your journey. One plan simply isn't enough for the diverse world you have set out to explore, as many challenges come in different shapes and sizes. You may want to strategize, and create backup plans on top of backup plans. You may want to create a network of trusted guild members that can back you up when things get rough out there. Or maybe you just want to be more flexible, going with the flow, unphased by what life throws at you.
For the sake of this tale, let's say you're just about to set off in an area full of ogres. You know that they can be agressive, but equally as diplomatic. This journey has the potential to go south, but if you plan it right, things might take a turn in your favor. How are you going to plan your excursion?
(text-colour:green)[[[* Be diplomatic, fight if you have to, and have guild members on standby...->5-1]]]
(text-colour:yellow)[[[* Go in weapons first words later, using intimidation to get through...->5-2]]]
(text-colour:red)[[[* Plan on punting cats at ogres to scare them into submission...->5-3]]]While on your journey, you may find that you're too busy to rest. Maybe a questline is taking up too much of your time, or maybe you're in a dangerous locale where you have to remain extra vigilant. it's imperative that journeymen allow themselves to take a break or rest and get away from the stresses of their quests. Oftentimes journeymen may need to find compromise within their busy lives to rest a little and regain their strength. A healthy traveler makes a better journeyman, both mentally and physically.
For the sake of this tale, let's say that you've been traveling for days on end with no end in sight. You haven't slept at all in order to stay vigilant, and the quest you are completing has a deadline. What should you do?
(text-colour:green)[[[* Take some time to rest while on your way to your next destination...->6-1]]]
(text-colour:yellow)[[[* Stop your journey completely and take a giant rest...->6-2]]]
(text-colour:red)[[[* Rest is for the weak, let's punt cats!->6-3]]]As a journeyman, it's important to have a network you can rely on in a pinch. It does not benefit you to be alone in most situations whilst on your travels. Friends not only allow you to socialize regularly, thereby improving your morale, but they allow you to explore new horizons as well.
Different journeymen prefer different social settings, which one do you think you would best fit into?
(text-colour:green)[[[* You like to be invested in the members of your guild and as such, you have become a tight-knit group of comrades...->7-1]]]
(text-colour:yellow)[[[* You like to be a part of a guild but you keep some distance from your party members...->7-2]]]
(text-colour:red)[[[* You like to be alone and punt cats...->7-3]]]In tough situations, you can call upon assists. Assists are professionals in their feild who can be contracted to do jobs for you while on your journey. You can trust them to do their job, as they are there to serve with your best interests in mind. It is not uncommon for journeymen to often times call upon assists for help.
For the sake of this tale, let's say you've been faced with a deadly spirit. It corrupts your mind beyond a point where you can reasonably deal with it alone. Your party members are preoccupied with other quests, so your only option is to call upon an assist. Which assist do you call?
(text-colour:green)[[[* Call upon the shaman to help heal your mind so that you can get back in the fight...->8-1]]]
(text-colour:yellow)[[[* Call upon the medic to take a look at you and tell you how to fix your situation...->8-2]]]

Think of times when they have helped you when you felt like you were in a pinch, and reflect on those experiences with them. The scroll does not rquire you to write anything, as it seems sentient and somehow knows that you are not equipped with a quill.
